WMIA Seeks Partner of the Year Nominations

WMIA's is seeking nominations from its distributor members for the prestigious Partner of the Year award. This year marks the 14th time the award will be bestowed. It will be presented during the 2007 Woodworking Industry Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida in April. The deadline for nominations is March 1.

This award is conferred upon the manufacturer or importer who best exemplifies the spirit of partnership in their dealings with woodworking machinery distributors. The program emphasizes the principle of steadfast cooperation between distributors and their suppliers.

The winning entry will be selected through a vote of WMIA’s Selection Committee, which consists of Distributor Members sitting on the Marketing Committee and other WMIA Distributor Members. The entries will be judged in 30 separate areas: under five broad categories of support and achievement, as spelled out on the attached list of criteria.

Remember, the number of distributors a manufacturer or importer has is not a factor in the selection. The scores submitted by the voting WMIA Distributors are averaged, so that a supplier represented by two or three distributors has the same opportunity to be recognized as one selling its lines through a dozen or more dealers. The only criteria for nomination is that the nominee must be a member of WMIA or WMMA.

Last year’s award was presented during WIC in Maui, Hawaii to TigerStop LLC and Spencer Dick accepted. The award exemplifying a supplier’s outstanding performance has been given previously to Black Brothers in 2005, Delta Machinery in 2004, Mikron Woodworking Machinery in 2003, Colonial Saw Company, Inc. in 2002, Giben America, Inc. in 2001, and Holz-Her, U.S., Inc. in 2000. These companies are not eligible for nominations this year, as there is a seven-year waiting period for past winners.

It is very important that each distributor nominate as least one of its suppliers for this recognition. Which of your vendors ho has done the best job as a supplier in “partnering” with you during the last twelve months?

If you have any questions about this program, including the nominating or selection procedures, please do not hesitate to give either me or WMIA staff a call. Otherwise, please complete your nomination form and submit it by mail, fax or email no later than March 1, 2007!
