Erich Riebling Passes Away

Erich Riebling, President of Eric Riebling Co., Inc. died on Saturday, February 17, 2007.

Erich moved from Germany to the U.S. when he was eleven. He grew up with his parents and his brother Walter on the Upper East Side of New York City. He married Josephine Dorney in 1943. They have four children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

During World War II, Erich served in the jungles of New Guinea, for which he was awarded several medals, including the

Bronze Star for bravery. He was very proud of his service to his country.

When Erich returned home from the war, he started the Eric Riebling Co., building specialized woodworking machinery in a garage in the Bronx. In 1962, Erich began importing woodworking machinery from Germany. Over the years, the Eric Riebling Co., Inc. grew into a successful machinery importing business based in Mt. Vernon, NY. Erich’s relationships with many companies, both foreign and domestic, have lasted for decades.

Erich Riebling exhibited at woodworking fairs throughout the country. He was a co-founder of the Atlanta Woodworking Show in 1980.

Erich’s son, Steve, joined the Eric Riebling Co. full-time in 1970, and the two worked side-by-side for 37 years. Steve Riebling will now take over as president of the company.
