TigerStop Named 2006 Partner of the Year

The Woodworking Machinery Industry Association’s (WMIA) distributor members have announced the winner of WMIA’s 2006 Partner-of-the-Year Award. The announcement was made during the May 3-6 Woodworking Industry Conference (WIC) at the Wailea Marriott Resort in Maui, Hawaii. The 2006 recipient company is TigerStop LLC headquartered in Vancouver, WA. DETAILS

 

WIC 2006 Helps Members Meet Their Goals

According to member feedback, WIC 2006 was a rousing success. The four-day event was hosted by the Wailea Marriott Resort in Maui, Hawaii and featured the usual mix of business and social time that allowed WMIA members to build and enhance relationships with their industry partners. DETAILS

Customer Relationship Management: The Key to Business Success

Russ Lombardo spoke at WIC 2006 on customer relationship management. His presentation explored how companies can develop and deploy a customer retention strategy by building a customer-focused culture within their organization and by implementing key strategies for success. The presentation was very well received and the 21-page workbook distributed at the session is available for members to download.

Retooling, Education and Understanding Global Politics Important to WMIA Members

WMIA President Giordano Checchi addressed WIC 2006 attendees by stressing the need for retooling and education in the American woodoworking industry. He also suggested that understanding global politics is critical to members' success. DETAILS

For nearly 40 years, the products and services sold by WMIA members have been targeted to benefit all facets of the industry, large and small. WMIA offered a webinar in May designed to help manufacturers reinvent themselves to compete in today's economy. Customer Relationship Management: An Executive Summary

CRM (Customer Relationship Management) has been around almost a decade now and is still discussed in professional sales circles with both applause and disdain. It seems that almost all progressive companies have taken up the cause of CRM and an almost equal number have completely failed, re-started at least once, or boiled down their expectations significantly. Where are they Now?

Since WMIA began its scholarship program in 1998, the association has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarship rewards to students pursuing careers in the field of woodworking technology. Of those funds, $46,000 has be given to students attending Pittsburg State University's Wood Technology program in Pittsburg, Kansas. WMIA asked the university to provide information on where scholarship recipients are now. DETAILS

Pascal Doucet Wins Garmin in WIC 2006 Drawing

Pascal Doucet of Doucet Machinery won a Garmin Nuvi 350 GPS at WIC 2006 for his nominations for the 2006 WMIA Innovator of the Year, Educator of the Year and Commitment to Excellence Through Technology Awards. In order to increase the number of nominations, WMIA offered the GPS system as a prize and drew Doucet's name from all of those who nominated at least two companies. The award nominations will be judged during the summer and recipients will be announced in the fall.

Hey, The Truck is Going Right by There Anyway

Incremental sales volume is the great white whale of distribution management. This means that very few managers have actually seen it, but they have spent a lot of time, effort and even sorrow in the search.  If they do find it, the results frequently are not what was anticipated. DETAILS
