Accu-Systems,
Inc., based in Salt Lake City, Utah, was named WMIA's 2007 Partner of
the Year. The announcement was made during the April 25-28 Woodworking
Industry
Conference (WIC) at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club in St.
Petersburg, Fla.

Reisert will be supported by a strong
cabinet of officers and directors in advancing the association's
agenda for the next two years.

Cheryl Barta Wins Laptop for
Award Nominations

Cheryl Barta, director of operations for Wood Werks Supply,
Inc., won a 2007 HP 225 NR Laptop PC at this year's
Woodworking Industry Conference. She won the laptop in a
drawing of nominators for WMIA's 2007 awards program.
Members were invited to submit two names for the 2007 WMIA
Innovator, Educator and Commitment to Excellence awards in
order to qualify for the drawing.
Nominations are now closed and are being evaluated. Award
recipients will be announced in the fall. |
All Sales Volume is Not

Actually, sales solves a lot of
problems, but creates a lot more. The understanding that “nothing
happens until somebody sells something” causes otherwise rational
individuals to undertake some bizarre sales-generating activities.
It is enough to give sales a bad name.

USDA Forest Service Awards
$1 Million to Enhance Hardwood Forests
Northeastern Area State and Private
Forestry Director Kathryn Maloney announced that the USDA Forest Service
is awarding $1 million in grants to 17 competitively selected projects.
The grants encourage innovation and applied research in hardwood forest
products and their markets. The grants also promote economic
competitiveness of the domestic wood products manufacturing industry
located in the eastern United States..

myriad other health-related problems. We also would likely nod in
agreement about the potential harmful effects of alcohol abuse. It is
doubtful, however, that many of us have given much thought to the
potential adverse health risks posed by kitchen cabinets, home
entertainment units or laminate flooring. But the California Air
Resources Board sure has.
