WMIA Supports LIFO Coalition

In early May, prompt, decisive action by the business community successfully killed a surprise proposal by the Senate Republican leadership to permanently repeal the LIFO inventory accounting method. The revenue which this proposal would have raised was intended to fund a rebate of $100 to taxpayers to offset high gasoline prices. But, the threat to businesses which use LIFO is not gone. DETAILS

Seven WMIA Members Among Finalists for IWF Challengers Award

Twenty-two products were selected as finalists in the internationally-recognized Challengers Distinguished Achievement Award competition, the most ever in the history of the program sponsored by the International Woodworking Machinery & Furniture Supply Fair-USA. Seven WMIA members were included among the finalists. DETAILS

WMIA Awards $18,000 in Scholarships

The WMIA Scholarship Foundation awarded nine $2,000 scholarships in 2006 to students seeking careers in wood technology, machinery and related fields. These talented students were selected based on academic success, interests and special abilities. DETAILS

New Sourcebook Debuts at IWF

WMIA's 2007 Source book made its debut at IWF 2006 in August. Thousands of books were distributed at WMIA's booth to promote WMIA's members and WMIA's commitment to excellence through technology.

Sourcebooks will be mailed to members shortly. The will also be distributed to woodworkers for the next two years to promote WMIA members and their products.

WMIA's Sourcebook is also available online. Industry members can take advantage of automated search capabilities to find what they need from WMIA member companies more efficiently. You can view the online Sourcebook by visiting www.wmia.org and clicking on the link at the top of the page.
