The WMIA
Scholarship Foundation awarded $29,000 scholarships in 2007 to
students seeking careers in wood technology, machinery and related
fields. This represents a new high in scholarship awards.These
talented students were selected based on academic success, interests and
special abilities.

Standards Development
WMIA contributed $5,000 to the
Architectural Woodwork Institute's Wood Manufacturing Skill
Standards, Evaluations & Credentials project. The project is
aimed at meeting the need for skilled woodworkers in an increasingly
competitive global market.

Fair Sets New Milestones
The Golden Anniversary edition of the
AWFS®Fair, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center July 18 – 22, 2007
continued the tradition of delivering great value to both attendees and
exhibitors, setting new milestones in many areas.

Vegas Debut
The preliminary attendee numbers from the
2007 AWFS®Fair are in and although they show a 5% decline (19,923 vs.
18,987) in overall registration from the record breaking 2005 inaugural
Las Vegas show, the base of potential buyers actually grew.

Director

USA teacher will follow in the footsteps of Wilf Torunski as WoodLINKS
