Longlac Wood Industries to Close Plywood Plant

MISSISAUGA, ON – Longlac Wood Industries, a manufacturer of hardwood plywood for the cabinet industry, announced that it would permanently shut down its operations on Jan. 31, according to The Chronicle Journal.

The decision by the struggling company, which once employed up to 400 people, will put 130 out of work.

LMI owner Kruger Inc. of Montreal, announced that it has entered into a partnership with Norbord Inc. to jointly own the company’s mill in Cochrane, ON. The Cochrane plant reportedly makes similar products to those made in Mississauga. Read more.
