New Trade Zone Benefits Three Mississippi Furniture Makers

LEE COUNTRY, MS – Three upholstery furniture manufactures will benefit from the recent expansion of the Vicksburg-Jackson Foreign Trade Zone by the U.S. Foreign Trade Zone Board.

The beneficiaries include Lane Home Furnishings, H.M. Richards Inc. and Bauhaus USA Inc., according to the Memphis Business Journal.

Foreign trade zone status will allow the three furniture manufacturers to save more than $1 million a year each on the purchase of imported fabric and relief from federal tariffs, property taxes and federal merchandising fees.

According to the Business Journal, creation of the zones will help keep the three companies’ operations running and preserve 950 jobs. Read more.
