Announcing the launch of the new Boot Camp for Service Technicians


WMIA is pleased to announce, through its collaboration with the Wood Technology Industry Institute (WTII) and Pittsburg State University, the launch of a brand-new Boot Camp for Service Technicians!

This 2-1/2-day program, which will be held at Pittsburg State University, will cover the following topics:

  • Basic Electricity
  • Schematics: Circuit Devices and Symbols
  • Schematics: Understanding Schematics
  • Relays, Contractors, and Motor Starters
  • Circuit Protection
  • Troubleshooting 101
  • Electric Power
  • Induction Motors
  • Introduction to PLCs
  • HMI and SCADA Interfacing
  • DC, Servo, and Stepper Motors
  • Industrial Networks
  • Power Quality
  • Variable Frequency Drives

Additionally, the Boot Camp will cover some customer service- and safety-related issues as well.

Two sessions are planned in the coming months—October 12-14, 2018, and January 4-6, 2019. The sessions will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and run through 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The Boot Camp for Service Technicians will cost $1400 for WMIA members and $1750 for nonmembers. This cost includes 2 nights hotel stay (Friday and Saturday); daily transportation from hotel to University; breakfast, lunches, and classroom snacks (all dinners excluded); resource book and laboratory supplies.
